Once we decided we were doing this, the search was on for just the right trailer. It had to be small and light. And we desperatly needed working space and sleeping space and my number one request was a sky light to view the stars. Sam’s was power and internet connection but he also was keenly aware that comfort working was going to be very important. Our biggest problem was our towing vehicle, a 2- door jeep has a very short towing capacity limited to just 2000 pounds! That doesn’t leave much of a trailer! Plus it had to be able to be towed down washboard roads, and out into the middle of no where, out where I can hear owl’s hoot, and coyotes howl!

Enter the Taxa Tiger Moth! It’s light it has two seperate areas where we can sleep in the roof top tent and work in the trailer. The slide out Kitchen and wing doors make the outside inside. But my very favorite part is the Skylight in the roof top tent! I can lay in bed and see the stars! Also of note is the lock n roll hitch and the timbren axel-less suspension.

Most critical on our prep list is the internet connection, and power. Sam as a developer and myself with high spreadsheet demands we need multiple monitors which take up added wattage. We have invested in an inverter generator with 2000 running watts and a Jackery with 1000 watts and 2 100 watt solar panels. Along with shore power, when we can get it, or the trailers own battery’s we hope to be able to go maybe a week off grid. However, we are thinking permanent solar panels on the roof of the trailer might also be warranted. Internet access is problem number 2. Neither of us can go even a half day without connection, it will be absolutely necessary. Our only solution right now is a “weboost” which takes any cellphone signal and amplifies it. So 2 bars becomes 4 bars. However, the better solution is Starlink. With thousands of satellites in the sky we would be able to get satellite internet anywhere we go, even the most remote reaches, and off grid locations would now be our new home office location.
