MODIFICTATIONS!

It’s been awhile and Sam and I have been working feverishly on modifications before our next big trip. We have some big changes a foot! Our Utah trip was amazing but there were a few items we feel would have made it even better. One of the most important ones for me was a shower. We spent so much time off grid which meant we really needed to conserve water. So baths were far and in between and with the Utah dessert I was DIRTY! My long hair was not pleased with this.

Modification #1 was to mount a Jolca hot tap shower on the side of the Tigermoth. This sucker is cool (well, it’s hot but you know what I mean)! it has a long hose that you can drop in a water supply (like a lake, or a river) and it will filter the water, then heat it using propane instantly and shoot out hot water for a fantastic shower. Ideally we would like to be able to use natural water sources or somehow limit ourselves to 5 gallons of water use for showers along (wish my hair luck!). Sam devised an intricate rail system to mount this bugger to the side of the Tigermoth, inside of a Pelican case.

Modification #2 a 270 degree awning. Thing wraps around nearly 3 sides of the Tiger moth. And Sam got the additional side walls that we can add if it’s raining. This really opens up our living space! The beauty of this awning is that it’s super easy to set up and one of us can do it on our own! That’s a huge win.

Modification #3 we added additional LED lights throughout the outside of the tiger moth. Particularly in the Kitchen area, and on the tongue. Added bonus , they have colors!

Modification #4 we added a permanent 175watt solar panel to the top of the Tiger moth. This is going to be amazing and allow us to charge the trailer battery while on the road, or while just sitting in our camp spot as long as we have some sun! that should be enough to keep our Fridge going! and then leaves the 200watt portable solar panels just to charge our Jackery battery for the computers.

There were some additional purchases to make our lives easier too, like a new cooler for the Jeep, and specially fitted sheets for the roof top tent. We also worked out a permanent mount for the wee boost pole, moved the generator off the tongue to the side of the tiger moth and that gave us room to move our Camp chairs, rug and possibly the big folding table to the tongue. This freeze up a ton of space inside. All set!
